Sigma's Paris Palette

i just had to get the palette when Sigma sent me the email. mother thinks my makeup spending is becoming too much but she has been using my other Sigma palettes on the sly so my spending is justified, somehow.

the Paris palette is limited edition which makes it more important for me to get it. :)

enough of the blabbing, swatches coming up. they're not great swatches but hey, i tried. :)

i guess the pictures aren't that great cos i do not have a photography corner set up yet. wonder when that'll happen so worked w/ what i got at the moment.

DIY Brush Cleaner

found the recipe to make brush cleaner through xsparkage.com.

i finally bought the ingredients needed and mixed them all together. very, very simple recipe. tested the cleaner just now while i was doing some spot cleaning of my dirty brushes. the results were instant.

before

after.
this is just spot cleaning. i can just picture how cleaner it will be when i do the bi-weekly thorough cleaning. :)

oh and i bought a brush cleaner from MAC recently as well and i found that both works the same in cleaning and disinfecting my brushes. though the MAC one was not as expensive as i first thought, only $20 i think, the idea of having to travel to town just to replace it is not so appealing. whereas for the DIY cleaner, i just need to replace the alcohol which is way nearer than to travel all the way to town.

p/s: i replaced the 91% isopropyl alcohol with 100% denatured alcohol bought from Watsons' comes in a bottle and one bottle is enough for one batch of this DIY brush cleaner.

Hello Flawless! by Benefit

i bought this recently after finding it out on the website itself. i did not really have the time to try it out for a day 'cos working shift really sucks but i did manage to use it today.

well anyways, its stated on the website that its a brightening foundation which means that it makes your complexion brighter the longer you wear it and so i thought i tried it out.

personally, i found that it made my skin look more tanned after a few hours but i have no problem with my complexion looking darker if i set it with loose powder. it had the same effect on my sister.

the coverage, however, as stated in the website, flawless. i love how light it feels on my skin and i don't need to apply too much. as compared to the other liquid foundation i have.

i also love the packaging. brands like Benefit and Urban Decay have the coolest packaging for their products.

first makeup haul of the year. :)

been m.i.a lately cos i don't feel so much like blogging about my life anymore. kinda boring. maybe when there are special occasions then I'll blog.

well i better not start typing nonsense. the whole idea of this post is to post photos and reviews. it's my first time doing all this swatching and reviews so please bear with me. :)

i went for this makeup event at Bobbi Brown@isetanscotts yesterday and i like the end results.

Manhattan Fish Market

i finally went to Manhattan Fish Market (cwp branch) with my colleagues. i promised one of them, like forever, to treat her there 'cos she helped me with something.

i must say that it was an okay experience. the food was great. i like the side dish menu very much. i had a seafood marinara pasta - forgot the name of the dish. the pasta itself tasted great but after awhile the sauce sort of became overwhelmed by the seafood. and it started to taste rather fishy.

i would recommend, very much, the cheese fries and the deep fried mushroom side dish. again, i forgot the name of the dish. jeez, I'll never be able to review things properly like this.

anyways,
the service was okay. lack of communication between servers and the kitchen. we initially wanted the pasta to be fettuccine but it came out spaghetti instead. but in the end it was all sorted out. apparently they ran out of fettuccine and kitchen did not inform the front staff but the person who served us apologised and everything turned out okay.

i think they need to work on their communication skills.

other than that I'll definitely make a return trip, probably with my family. birthdays are coming and that seems like a good enough reason. :)

Burlesque

Caught it yesterday with sister and Syasya. Frankly speaking i wouldn't have even thought of watching it in the first place 'cos it seems to be something musical-ly. However, knowing that Miss Christina Aguilera was starring in it, i just had to go and watch.

It did not disappoint. The set, the costumes, the dance and song numbers, especially the last number of the movie was spectacular. Christina's vocals were, are always amazing. Her acting skills, were surprisingly up to chops with the movie. The rest of the cast were damn good too.

Oh, and Cam Gigandet was damn sexayye in the movie. There is the one scene where we had a good view of his butt, his very cute sexy butt. I like.

Anyways, it's a must watch for fans of Christina 'cos the movie just shows you how talented she is. She prolly is the most talented and successful alumni of the long defunct Mickey Mouse Club.

I adore her!

the past few days....

...has been pretty normal. the all familiar pattern of wake-up - work - home- eat - sleep. nothing unusual. well, maybe my working life s changing a bit or at least i feel it's changing a tiny bit. just found out that one of my neighbours has just got posted to WCP. funny thing is that i've never seen him before when in fact both of us have lived in the same block of flats for the past 15 years. i'm pathetic.

anyways, i just coped me the latest title from the HON series, Awakened. :)

i have already done reading it hours after i bought it since i'm such a freak reader and i must say i'm not disappointed at all. the series gets better and better. almost reaching it's climax i think. anywho, the next book, which will prolly be the last title in the series, will be out come November 2011. oh, the title of the book is Destined. i'm putting really high expectations on this coming book in the series.i hope it doesn't disappoint 'cos it's predecessors did well.

well i'm still looking for new titles and new series to get my hands on. i think i'd prolly stick to the same genre of books 'cos ALL of my books are the same genre ad concept. thanks to the Twilight Saga, all my titles have to do with myths, legends, witchcraft and fantasy. i really let my imagination run wild when i'm reading my books.

and if anyone of the series get turned into a movie i'm hoping it will be the Wicked Series. the content is just AWESOME. the author is just AWESOME. the series is just SO AWESOME!

okay, i'm done :)

Bagspace rocks!

I've finally received my bag from bagspace.sg. it's a lovely coral colour and i'm so glad i purchased it. i needed a new duffel bag anyways and the bag suits me just fine. i really recommend that you make a visit to Bagspace's website. you will fall in live with their inspired line of bags and accessories.

it's my first time ordering something online and i must say i'm very pleased that it didn't go wrong. :)

i'd like to cop me some more bags from their website but i have to wait until i settle the more important things, like bills for example.

oh and i'm sexcited for tomorrows date!

Update(s).

hello world, i'm back again. though i don't know when i'll be back blogging about my oh-so un-exciting life.

well anyways, i had a movie date with Khai. we watched Alice in Wonderland, in 3D! okay, ignore my excitement about watching Johnny Depp in 3D. it was my first time watching a movie in 3D. so, again, ignore my jakun-ism.

the movie itself was okay, the graphics were beautiful but in the end the plot just went dry. if it wasn't for Johnny Depp being n the movie i wouldn't have watched it, so yeah, i have this super big crush on him. now i'm sounding just a tad bit like a crazed fan girl.

i had major fun with Khai, we talked about almost everything. and we did alot of stupid stuff. and because of that, i'm totally excited to meet my girls this weekend.

by the way i watched Alice in Wonderland again with my siblings. not that great watching it w/o 3D. then we went to Popular to browse book titles. found a few titles and a few series of books to get my hands on with my next pay packet. I have this sudden need to read other vampire type books after and other than the Twilight Saga.

this is a heads up for those of you who want some other vampire related book to read other than the Twilight Saga, it's called the Hose of Night Series. i find it more believable than Twilight 'cos Twilight is more fantasy/romance based whereas the House of Night series to me is more realistic in a sense 'cos the way the authors included how it feels to be a teen and having supernatural powers like the main protagonist has.

I've read the first 6 books, in 5 days cos i'm a freak like that, and am waiting excitedly for the 7th book to be in stores.

so yeah, these are the books i'm talking about.

bye everybody. :)

Since Resorts World Sentosa opened recently, the traffic at work has increased. Thank you very much.

anyways, i'm on mc today cos i reported sick. tummy problems nothing too serious though. i watched Wolfman with my colleague yesterday night. sound effects were awesome, graphics were awesome and the storyline was pretty well thought out. it had a sad ending though. i'd rate it 4/5 stars only cos the sound effects scared the shit out of me. hhaha.

Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, another must watch. it's a bit Harry Potter-ish in Greek mythology form albeit less darker than Harry Potter series has turned out to be. the dialogue between characters are funny, some of it.

anyhow, i'm watching the latter again today just to kill time. hehs. there are a lot of movies coming soon that i would like to catch. a long list so i won't bother typing them all out.

that's all.

Happy New Year!

the new year is here and everybody, well almost everybody, will be thinking of new year's resolutions. i used to think that it'd be good to have some new goals every new year but now i think that all of it is just a whole load of crap.

i keep bringing the previous resolutions forward anyways so might as well get that over and done with and then i can think of something new to do. i'm still at that lose weight and stay slim resolution from like, three years ago and i've not effectively done it. my weight keeps on fluctuating. so that chapter's closed.

as for what i think about MY 2009, well it's easier for you guys to find out for yourselves by going through my archives. having me summarize MY 2009 will take weeks i think 'cos a lot of events happened. the good, the bad and the downright nasty. well there were a few days during MY 2009 that made it bearable and one of it was my Birthday Bash. :)

and as to how i celebrated New Year's Eve. it was nothing fancy, i didn't attend the many countdown parties that usually happens 'cos i didn't want to wear my self out since the next day is my morning shift. instead i spend it with sister and her boyfriend. we had dinner and then watched a movie. we watched Sherlock Homes to be more exact. it was a great movie 'cos of the wit and the plot of the movie was laid out pretty good. Guy Ritchie really did well with directing the movie and his parts as Lord Blackwood were acted quite well.

okay enough about the movie critique, basically that's how my new year went. i spent the better half of the day murdering my feet, yes i did since i decided to wear heels. the black suede one's with the flower motif that looks extremely tiny when i wear it. but i managed to survive. hehs.

oh before i forget, the traffic at work today was just so amazing that i couldn't believe it. for once since i started work there wasn't any MAJOR jam at the Causeway, let alone a slight one. to put it more simpler, i had time to joke around and talk about stupid stuff with my mentor while we WAIT for the cars to come in. i really made full use of the 'free' time 'cos it was certainly a rare coincidence. some of the passengers even commented on it. what luck! haha!
